iOS Mobile Application Developer

Location: Coquitlam
Type: Full-Time / Contactor
Salary: Dependent on experience

We are currently searching for an iOS Mobile Application Developer to develop a new app to display all of our outdoor recreation information. Working directly with our GIS Coordinator and the mapping team, you will be responsible for developing applications for iOS that can function offline and provide added features like turn by turn navigation and track sharing. Experience working with Mapbox SDK for iOS, databases (PostgreSQL/PostGIS, MongoDB, SQLite) as well as GIS is considered an asset. Evenings, weekends and/or extended hours may be required to meet deadlines.

Duties and Responsibilities will include:

  • Help create new iOS mobile mapping applications using the latest best practices
  • Helping to maintain the mobile application, investigate bugs and implement bug fixes
  • Assist with application design, code documentation, code review and planning/brainstorming to help achieve project goals

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in computer science, information technology, software engineering or related
  • Experience developing native iOS apps
  • Experience with Objective-C/Swift XCode development
  • Up to date with the latest best practices for iOS development
  • Knowledge of iOS app design criteria and the Apple App Store publishing process
  • Experience working with Mapbox creating maps using their iOS SDK is beneficial
  • Experience working with databases (PostgreSQL/PostGIS, MongoDB, SQLite) considered an asset
  • Experience working with GeoJSON data for managing line and point spatial data is beneficial
  • Design and write well-structured, easily maintainable, well-documented code
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Shipping, Receiving and Office Associate

Backroad Mapbooks is looking for a talented individual to join our team. We are looking for a shipping, receiving and office associate to handle all outgoing and incoming shipments along with other office tasks. Backroad Mapbooks’ head office and warehouse are in Coquitlam, BC. The position is full-time and includes benefits after a 3-month probationary period. The successful candidate with be trained on company policies and standards, we are looking for an individual willing to learn and grow with our company. Excellent time management, communication & organizational skills, leadership and a keen business sense are key components of this position.

Duties and Responsibilities will include:

  • Shipping and receiving
  • Preparing waybills
  • Order picking, packaging and staging orders for pick-up
  • Handling orders form the company’s eCommerce website and Amazon
  • Updating and maintaining shipping logs
  • Monitoring inventory levels
  • Creating invoices and sale receipts (knowledge of Quickbooks would be an asset)
  • Communicating on the phone and email to Vendors, Customers and Partners.
  • Warehouse duties including; tidiness, organization and counting inventory
  • Inventory control of all re-sale products
  • Various other office tasks 

Skills Required:

  • 3+ years previous experience in shipping and receiving
  • Reliable and punctual
  • An acute attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently or part of a team
  • Strong grasp of the English language both verbal and writing
  • Able to follow instructions accurately
  • Knowledge of and experience using Microsoft Office
  • Lifting boxes 30-50lbs
  • Able to type 40 words / minute
  • Strong problem solver
  • Must be a self-starter with a high level of initiative, assertiveness, sense of urgency and accountability
